Responsible for obtaining and tracking authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization. This position requires multi-tasking, computer skills, good oral and written communication and customer service etiquette. Function as a part of the team and keep everyone apprised of the authorization situation. Responsible for Agency’s ability to bill and be paid for visits made by the field staff.

• Answer telephones and provide excellent customer service to our professional staff and insurance representatives
• Run and utilize computer reports regularly
• Provide accurate, complete updates to Agency management on status of authorizations for all patients requiring treatment authorization
• Obtain and track authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization
• Clearly document all authorization requests
• Communicate with multiple disciplines
• Notify Supervisor of problems in a timely manner and works to help provide solutions
• Other duties as assigned

• High school graduate or GED
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in health care billing and/or authorization practices
• General knowledge of the framework, organization, and function of home care
• Sound knowledge of health care operations and third-party reimburesment 
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Exploreer) with the ability to learn industry specific software applications 
• Solid organizational skills, throughness, and a keen attention to detail with the ability to multi- task while prioritizing effectively 
• Ability to work independently and in a team enivronment 
• Excellent, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Professional appearance and demeanor
