Overview

The Manager of Training Design and Development role is responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of various training solutions - including eLearning modules, virtual instructor-led training, online knowledgebases, job aids, etc. The Manager of Training Design and Development will lead a team of instructional designers, providing coaching and support to ensure impactful, learner-centered design. The Manager of Training Design and Development meets with leadership to identify gaps and avail effective solutions that improve performance of employees at all levels of the business, supporting overall business success.

Responsibilities

Management & Leadership:

    • Maintains day-to-day responsibilities of the instructional design team, ensuring projects are executed smoothly, efficiently, on time, and in budget
    • Certifies that there is consistency in the quality of training solutions launched by the department
    • Provides regular feedback and coaching to their team to ensure ongoing development and growth
    • Conducts the tracking and reporting of the progress for all on-going training programs
    • Manages vendor relations and ensures strong working partnerships with cross-functional teams

Technology:

    • Leads the design and development of training solutions utilizing various design tools and technology, including the Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate 360 authoring tools, video editing software, audio recordings, and Microsoft Office
    • Leads innovative design to meet various needs and provides coaching and support to the team of instructional designers
    • Partners with LMS administration and oversees the accuracy of all assignments, learning objects, and available reporting

Strategy:

    • Assists with executing the training strategy for the various business lines across the company
    • Initiates strategy into action based on the unique needs of each division and department to improve the skills of employees in an impactful and personalized manner

Collaboration:

    • Works closely with various departmental heads and management in the business to develop training solutions unique to the needs of their employees and teams
    • Helps with the senior training and development personnel including the Chief Learning Officer, aiding in the approval and formulation of training strategies, initiatives, and materials that will address identified training needs
    • Acts as a major support role by coaching leadership and management principles within the business, leading training sessions, and ensuring proper execution of training programs

Analytics:

    • Plays an analytical role by establishing metrics that measure the performance and success of ongoing training programs
    • Identifies points of improvement and develops solutions that improve the effectiveness of training programs
    • Reports to the Chief Learning Officer for the purpose of strategy formulation and informed decision-making

Knowledge:

    • Maximizes the effectiveness of the training initiatives launched in the business by staying up to date with current training practices, training methods, learning tools, and learning deployment devices and technologies
    • Participates in leadership meetings, training events and seminars, and conferences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Training & Development, Psychology, Education, Human Resources, Business, or any other related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two plus years of training design experience developing customized, blended training programs within a large-structured and complex business environment
  • Experience working with learning management system (LMS) and experience in adult learning, performance measurement, and needs assessment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate 360, and other design programs in order to lead the design and development of blended learning solutions
  • Proven ability to pinpoint, analyze, assess training needs within the business, translating those needs into actionable training initiatives
  • Ability to evaluate the performance of existing training programs and recommend points of improvement
  • Ability to work both independently and in a group-setting
  • Highly capable of forming strong, trusting relationships with others - including those they lead and the various business partners they support across the organization
