• Implements intervention protocols established by the school district to assist the person served in achieving the goals established by their education or care system. Collects behavior and function data on the person receiving services.
• Ensures safety, support and appropriate training for person receiving services, while fostering independent functioning.
• Uses appropriate methods and tools in all teaching and training activities, including those associated with transitioning to new environments or from program supports.
• Teaches independent functioning and pro-social behavior by modeling appropriate social and professional behavior. Encourages positive communication with others.
• Observes and assists with activities of daily living, including eating, toileting, and daily hygiene.
• Serves as a Mandated Reporter of Suspicion of neglect or abuse. Notifies the appropriate State Protective Service (Child or Adult) as appropriate.
• Implements community integration activities under the direction of the IEP Case Manager and BMAC Case Coordinator to assist the person receiving services with a variety of needs during activities. Assists the person receiving services in learning safe community behavior and community skills.
• Maintains timely communication with the teaching team, IEP Case Manager and the BMAC Case Coordinator. Participates in the team process; provides input and effective intervention strategies. Attends team and educational meetings.
• Observes, documents and reports changes in the condition of the person served to the teacher and other education or service team members, as appropriate.
• Maintains the highest standard of professional conduct in relation to information that is confidential in nature. Complies with Company’s HIPAA and school’s FERPA policies.
• Maintains and submits documentation in the format and timelines required by the Company, school district, local, state and federal regulations.
• Attends, participates in internal staff development programs. Maintains and enhances behavior training skills.
• Performs other duties assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED, plus a minimum of six months prior work/volunteer experience providing individual instructions, preferably in a health care environment.
• Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Able to work independently and part of a team
• Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Has reliable transportation and is able to travel to/from multiple assignments/locations on a daily basis
