Overview

The Vice President of IT provider systems will be responsible for the strategic oversight and management of all clinical and business systems information technology systems within the providers business units. This role requires a dynamic leader who can align IT strategies with clinical objectives, manage complex IT projects, and ensure the seamless integration of technology to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.  This role will report to the Chief Information Officer.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy for clinical and business systems that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Provide visionary leadership to drive innovation and continuous improvement in clinical and business systems and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize technology needs and opportunities.

Systems Management:

  • Oversee the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical information systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Computerized and other systems to support the provider business units/
  • Ensure that all systems meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational policies.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and other external partners to support provider business unit IT initiatives.

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage major IT projects related to clinical and business systems, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the specified objectives.
  • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and manage risks associated with clinical and business systems IT projects.
  • Implement best practices for project management and system implementation.

Team Leadership:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing IT clinical and business systems team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Manage team performance, provide professional development opportunities, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with provider business units’ staff, physicians, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure IT systems support required workflows and improve patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and address concerns.

Data Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure that clinical IT systems comply with HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant regulations and standards.
  • Implement and oversee data security protocols to protect patient information and maintain system integrity.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the budget for clinical and business systems IT systems, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Monitor expenditures and implement strategies for cost control and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management within a healthcare setting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role focusing on clinical systems.
  • Experience with systems supporting the following business lines: Home Health, Hospice, Rehab, Community Living, HomeCare (Personal Care), and Primary Care
  • Strong understanding of clinical information systems, EHR, and healthcare technology trends.
  • Proven track record of leading complex IT projects and managing large teams.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to healthcare IT and data security.
